Raffle to help the Malala Fund this week

Global Youth Alliance at Watertown High School raising money this month for international cause

Kayla Lawlor, Raider Times staff

Each month of the school year, the Global Youth Alliance at Watertown High School designates organizations and causes to help by raising money.

For the month of October, the club has picked the Malala Fund. The Malala Fund was founded by Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani teen who is fighting for education.

The Malala Fund focuses its efforts on acquiring equal education for women, but also includes starting education programs in some countries and improving education standards in others.

This month, starting Wednesday, Oct. 22, and going until Friday, Oct. 24, the Global Youth Alliance will hold a raffle in order to raise money for the Malala Fund. The raffle prizes include a $25 Comella’s gift card, a $25 gift card from Celebrity Pizza, and a brand new bike lock.

The raffle tickets are being sold during all three lunches for $1 each, or get a deal and buy three tickets for just $2.

So help out the GYA and the Malala Fund at lunch and buy some raffle tickets!
