It’s tournament time again in Watertown!

The last home games of year for Watertown High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will take place this weekend at WHS.

The boys will play Friday night at 7 p.m. against North Reading. Watertown (18-2) is the top seed in Division 3 North and will be playing its first game. North Reading (14-7) is seeded eighth and advanced by beating Greater Lawrence, 66-61, on Wednesday.

These teams met in the MIAA tournament last year, with the top-ranked Hornets winning at home, 61-53. Read about that game and see photos HERE.

The winner of Friday night’s game will play in the Division 3 North semifinals against the winner of Sunday’s game between No. 5 Whittier (16-5) and No. 4 Lynnfield (17-4). Date, time, and place of the semifinals to be announced.

The Watertown High girls will play Saturday night at 7 p.m. against Hamilton-Wenham. Watertown (15-4) is the No. 3 seed in Division 2 North and advanced by beating No. 14 Chelsea at home on Tuesday, 42-21. Hamilton-Wenham (13-8) is seeded sixth and advanced by beating Swampscott, 45-32, on Tuesday.

The winner of Saturday night’s game will play in the Division 2 North semifinals against the winner of Friday’s game between No. 7 Tewksbury (13-8) and No. 2 Wakefield (16-4). Date, time, and place of the semifinals to be announced.
