“The Greatest Showman” is a sensational spectacular!!

I am not a fan of musicals, but this one has made me change my mind. “The Greatest Showman” is a very interesting musical about the life of P.T. Barnum, the man who created show business and the very first circus.

Starting with a song that gives goosebumps, the movie sends out a strong message against discrimination and the struggles people who were different had at the time. Hugh Jackman portrays Barnum from his time as a young boy until passing on his accomplishment to his business partner Phillip Carlyle (played by Zac Efron) to retire and have a happy life dedicated to his wife and two daughters.

Barnum has a long and difficult life, dealing with being dirt poor, to having to deal with press and people who were against people who were considered different.

There is also a separate story being built in the process about Carlyle and the trapeze performer, Anne Wheeler (played by Zendaya). This love story helps with reaching the interest an audience of all ages and making the movie even more engaging.

I would rate this movie a 9 out of 10, deducting a point off of it only because I had a issue with music and singing being played at the saddest moments. Some people might agree with me others could call me crazy, but the little detail bothered me.

This musical brought on me all emotions from being extremely sad, to laughing hysterically, to being enraged with characters who acted as villains.

For those who need a visual of something similar to “The Greatest Showman,” the closest would be “High School Musical,” but with a history about a real story and a more serious plot.

Overall, “The Greatest Showman” was a great movie and a musical I would be willing to see again.
