Being a student isn’t an easy task. Patrick O’Neill acknowledges this fact, and he went so far as to create a club at Watertown High where students can receive help after school and make their lives easier.

Meetings are every Monday and Thursday from 2:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Room 326 and students from any grade can just walk in and request help in their studies. There are snacks and water and Mr. O’Neill, a special education and English teacher, is even willing to go as far as buying pizza if a good amount of students join the club.

The club has just begun and needs students to join — to get and give homework help.  Hailey DiBacco, a senior at Watertown High, is one of the volunteers for “anything I am able to help with,” she said.

Students like Hailey can join the club as helpers, giving them the opportunity to learn communication skills and teaching techniques, while earning community service hours.

“Let’s structure it a little bit more, let’s add some incentives like the community service, and I got food and water,” said Mr. O’Neill.

Join the club! if you struggle in a particular subject, go to Room 326 for some support, eat a snack and drink some water for your effort. Then you get your homework done so you can have the rest of the day off.
