Three Watertown student-athletes sign letters of intent

Michaela Antonellis (Stonehill), Jason Hughes (Assumption), and Mikayla Paone (UMass-Lowell) make their college plans official

Watertown High School student-athletes Michaela Antonellis, Jason Hughes, and Mikayla Paone made their college plans official  Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, in an afterschool ceremony surrounded by friends, families, coaches, and a number of teammates.

All three athletes will be remaining in Massachusetts next year. Hughes will be playing lacrosse at Assumption, Antonellis will be playing field hockey at Stonehill, and Paone will be playing field hockey at UMass-Lowell.

All three have been part of state title-winning teams while playing for the Raiders — Hughes winning his in ice hockey last winter, while Antonellis and Paone are working toward their fourth straight in field hockey.

It will be a busy weekend for Raider athletes:

  • The football team will play in the Division 4 North finals at Stoneham High on Friday at 7 p.m.
  • On Saturday, the field hockey team, which has a 157-game unbeaten streak, will play in the Division 2 North finals against Manchester-Essex at North Andover at 11 a.m.
  • Also Saturday, the WHS boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams will take part in the Division 5 Eastern Mass. championships at the Wrentham Development Center.
