Scenes from Watertown High's field hockey game with Stoneham on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022. Watertown won, 7-0, and earned the No. 1 seed in the MIAA state field hockey tournament.
The postseason has arrived for four Watertown High teams — field hockey, football, and boys’ and girls’ soccer — who will be competing in statewide tournaments run by the MIAA. Sadly, the season is over for WHS volleyball, which finished 5-17 and landed 41st in the Division 3 power rankings, just outside the tourney cutoff.
Here are how the other four fall teams fared, with their upcoming MIAA state tourney schedules and links to the power rankings and playoff brackets:
Field hockey — The Raiders finished 17-0-0 and earned the top spot in the Division 3 power rankings. Watertown will play Saturday, Nov. 5, at Victory Field at 2 p.m., against the winner of No. 32 Hudson and No. 33 Norwell, who play Thursday afternoon.
Football — WHS finished 5-3 and was placed ninth in the Division 5 rankings. Watertown will travel to No. 8 Dover-Sherborn (8-0) on Friday, Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m.
Boys’ soccer — Watertown (6-9-5) was slotted 17th in the Division 3 rankings. The Raiders will travel to No. 16 Boston Latin Academy (13-4-1) on Friday, Nov. 4, at 3:30 p.m.
Girls’ soccer — The Raiders (4-13-1) were ranked 26th in Division 3, and will play host to No. 53 Boston Latin Academy (10-4-5) at Victory Field on Friday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. The winner of that game will play at No. 7 Weston (8-5-) on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m.
