Carina is a senior at Watertown High School and a student of Ms. O’ Grady’s journalism class of 2012. Carina’s interest in journalism all started due to movies because they portrayed how interesting and cool journalism could be. Before this year, she was very familiar with Ms. O’ Grady’s class and wanted to join. Sadly, as a freshman she couldn’t sign up so she had to wait for her senior year (this year). Remembering back to her earlier high school years, she remembers reading some of the past issues of The Raider Times. Overall she liked them but there were some times where she wished she could change the articles and make them better. Before this year, Carina has had absolutely no history with journalism; this will be her first class. She is very excited and can’t wait to write for The Raider Times because writing comes with no trouble to her and she feels it is a great way to express oneself. She would like to contribute to The Raider Times by writing about features or news/events happening in WHS. Her main goal or skill she would like to achieve or take out of this class is to be able to write her stories in an interesting way that attracts the reader’s attention. Also, she wants the experience for college. Her future plans consist of attending college for cooking and journalism as her secondary course. When graduated from college with a degree for cooking and journalism, she would like to go on and write about politics, U.S. news, and International affairs and news. She basically wants to write about the world’s hard news, but she does admit that she would show some sympathy/mercy and not release a story that might ruin one’s career or life. Overall, Carina would like to go to college for cooking, but she would like to pursue journalism sometime in her future.
