As grades battle in Coin Wars, the winner will be Franciscan Hospital
Annual WHS fund-raiser benefits kids in need
You can hear the sound of different metals clanging against each other as they fall into various containers. Often times you will hear the rustle of a paper bill being shoved into the opening of these containers. When these noises are heard, everyone knows … The Coin Wars have begun.
What are Coin Wars? Coin Wars are a competition between the four grades at Watertown High School. Every year, per tradition, the Pride Committee starts the Coin Wars. The grades compete against each other with a sense of camaraderie to raise money for a charity or organization.
The grade that raises the most money will gain a prize. The prize has not been determined, but it will be along the lines of an ice cream social or points toward the Raider Cup.
All of the money collected this year will be donated to the Franciscan Hospital for Children in Brighton. The money will benefit the hospital in all it does for young patients.
According to Andrew Allegro, roughly $170 was raised for the YWCA of Cambridge.
The Coin Wars will be conducted from Dec. 9 to Jan. 15. The water jugs/boxes used for collecting the money will be in the main office throughout the day, except during the three lunches, when they will be placed in the cafeteria. Show your school spirit by donating to our local organizations!
