Hudson Thames’s his first EP “Lip Tricks” was released Nov. 6, 2015, and features “How I Want Ya” with Hailee Steinfeld.

Growing up, Thames was always involved in the entertainment industry, as he was influenced by family and friends. He also became a skateboarder and considered doing it professionally.

After loving his first improv acting class as a young boy, Thames thought, “This is awesome! This is so fun!” and from then on carried his passion for acting and music through auditions, starring in films, and doing what he loves.

You may recognize him from films and TV programs such as “Bride Wars,” “Rule the Mix,” and “The A-List.” Speaking with Thames, it was clear how important music is to him.

“I always had music, but acting was always a fun outlet for me,” he said, describing the connection between the two.

The connection that Thames has with music has “always been a driving force for me as a person.” He said he played music at a much younger age, before acting.

He didn’t rush into the EP. Thames said he was “careful with it and took a long time writing it” as he has worked on it for the past two years.

Before the entire EP was released, the super catchy and upbeat track, “How I Want Ya” featuring actress-turned-pop-sensation Hailee Steinfeld was treated to the public first. The track was originally meant to be sung with Dev, but it also caught the ears of Steinfeld.

“Hailee heard the tune and really loved it and, at the same time, Dev was kinda working on a more clubby/hard vibe, and so Hailee was like, ‘Would Hudson be down to re-release this with myself on the chorus?’ Republic Records hit me up and asked, ‘You wanna do it?’ and I said, ‘Hell yeah!’ ”

After the single was released in late August, it started getting increasingly recognized.

“Once Taylor Swift and Kate Hudson and everyone started shouting it out, saying how much they loved it, that’s what kinda got the EP ready to go,” he said.

As Thames steps deeper into the music industry, his plans for touring are on the table. At the moment, he performs locally in Los Angeles.

“Right now we’re kinda working on that, the goal is to partner up with another act and then go on tour with them,” Thames said.

On top of being passionate toward his music, acting, and skateboarding, Hudson Thames is an inspiring artist and seems like a cool guy. So if you are in search of some new and tuneful songs to put on replay, definitely check out Hudson Thames’s EP, “Lip Tricks” — you won’t regret it!
