Senior Reflection: Anthony Russo
Senior year is the time of thinking about college, finishing up schoolwork, and enjoying the last year of your High School career. It is the time of completion and when friends head off to college and start a whole new life.
However, I feel like my senior year has consisted of hard work, stress, and commitment to all my schoolwork, which it should. Luckily, it has been paying off, I’ve been accepted into some good schools that I am considering. I am really looking forward to leaving Watertown High School and going off to college so I can experience a new atmosphere, new classes, and a whole new school in general. The toughest part will be deciding what school I want to go to.
From the start of senior year, I feel like there have been assignments being thrown at us left and right. The first couple of weeks, we got introduced to the senior thesis paper, or STP, a paper that requires you to read a book, from a list, of your choice and then defend your thesis statement that you make while reading. That lasted for four months until we finished up and passed them in. With other mini projects thrown in between the senior thesis paper, and homework assignments, it has kept me busy. The senior thesis paper was probably the biggest part of my senior year by far. So far there hasn’t been too much work, just a few projects here and there.
Now I am focused on choosing what college I will to go to. All of the colleges that I have been accepted to have given me a lot of money in scholarships, so that has made my decision even more difficult since I like all of the schools. Right now my top choice is Merrimack College. Merrimack also “runs” in my family, which is why I was glad I got in. Both my aunt and uncle went there, which is where they met. My cousin went there and met her husband there, and her husband’s brother also went there, so they were excited once I got in. I want to major in Civil Engineering, because I really like that major, and it seemed very interesting. My uncle is the President of the company he works for and he has also encouraged me to become an engineer. Ever since I was young, engineering has been a big interest of mine.
All in all, I am looking forward to college, and the new experience being on my own and away from home, and meeting new people. I hope I do my best in college so that I can have a successful career and life.
