There are 195 countries in the world that provide beautiful opportunities to explore and travel. One country in specific that provides some of these opportunities is located in Central America — Guatemala.

Guatemala is one of the best countries in the whole world. You may ask, “Why?” Because it has one of the most beautiful places to visit and explore.

During a trip that I took to Guatemala during the winter vacation, I went to many places that people may be interested in visiting. One of the first places I went to was Panajachel. Panajachel is a town in Guatemala with beautiful mountain and volcano views. There are also a wide variety of restaurants and places to shop at.

There’s a special spot at a lake where there is a beautiful view of the mountains. There’s also a heart to take pictures on and next to it is a place where you can swim. On the docks there are many boats that can take you around to the other towns!

One of the other towns that I went to near Panajachel, was Santiago Atitlan. Atitlan is mainly a place where you can shop and look around. Just a town over, there’s a place called San Juan La Laguna, which is especially breathtaking at night. The streets are filled with so much color and when you look up you see umbrellas, dolls, and ornaments hung and at night it has colorful lights. This town has many places to shop and is culturally rich. In Panajachel, they have their own native language that is spoken pretty much everywhere.

In San Juan La Laguna, there are many places to visit. There’s a museum I went to where they showed you how they make their own clothes with wool and how they make wool and the colors. Another museum I went to was a chocolate factory, where the workers showed us how they made their chocolate.

Swimming is so much fun but on this beach, it’s quite impossible. In San Jose, the beach there has the biggest and strongest waves I’ve ever seen. Other than the beach, you can go to the pools and there’s many places to eat, but if you don’t want to eat, you can rent a motorcycle and ride along the beach. Another place to have a nice swim in is El Tejar’s swimming pool. The kiddy and the big pool are very fun with many slides and places to relax. You can even ride a horse! 

Guatemala is filled with even more places to visit. Maybe on your next vacation you can visit these places and make memories.
