Mason Andrade (3 TDs) provides fireworks for Friday Night Lights return
Watertown High improves to 2-1 with a 32-6 victory over Saugus in the first night football game of the season at Victory Field

After almost two years of a student fan section hiatus, the cheers and chants are back!
The first Friday night football game of the season was played Sept. 24 at Victory Field and the Raiders came ready. Watertown defeated visiting Saugus, 32, as Mason Andrade scored three rushing touchdowns.
As a way to show school spirit, the student section decided on a white-out theme, and needless to say the students showed up, too. Whether it was white wigs, or a simple white tee, everyone showed their school spirit.
As kickoff approached the stands were packed by all grades anticipating a great game, and they were not disappointed. Almost immediately, Andrade, a senior captain, scored on a 51-yard run and the “Raider Nation” and “Let’s Go Raiders” chants began and didn’t end until the final second.
When asked about the first Friday night back, senior Eleni Hum said, “It’s as if nothing has changed … it feels like I’ve gotten my high school experience back.”
The Raiders will play another Friday night game at Victory Field, Oct. 1, against Burlington (0-3), in the Raiders’ first Middlesex League game of the season.
