Watertown (5-2) will be back at Victory Field to celebrate Senior Night with a game against Melrose (5-2) on Friday, Oct. 28, in the final home game of the regular season.

The Watertown Raiders opened the game with a successful drive, led by the running and passing senior quarterback Johnny Cacace, who scored from 3 yards out.

The visiting Warriors bounced back with a great interception from linebacker Nathan Delgado with 2:33 left of the first quarter. The Warriors tied the game with a 4-yard pass from Javin Willis to Jonathan Courtright before the end of the quarter.

The Warriors continued to trouble the Raiders with turnovers and the rushing and passing of Willis. Wakefield dominated for the rest of the game, leaving the Raiders stumped, and the home crowd quiet.

Willis and halfback Steven Woish connected on several occasions throughout the second and third quarters, in the middle of the second quarter connecting for an 11-yard touchdown extending their lead to 14-7. In the third quarter, Woish provided a strong running game, which landed him a 4-yard touchdown to up the lead over the Raiders to 21-7.

In a scoreless fourth quarter, the Warriors continued to smother Cacace, landing a sack and wearing down the frustrated home side until the end of the game.

Wakefield, the fourth-ranked team in Division 3, will play winless Wilmington on Friday, Oct. 28.

Watertown went into the weekend ranked ninth in Division 5, while Melrose was ranked 13th in Division 4.
