“Our Town” coming to Watertown
WHS to stage Thornton Wilder classic Oct. 24-25
October 17, 2014
As the new school year starts to get into swing, so do all the clubs at the high school. The theater club at Watertown High School has been active as of late, and is already starting to produce the fall play.
This year’s fall play production is the classic “Our Town,” written in 1938 by Thornton Wilder. It depicts the lives of two families in the fictional small town of Grover’s Corners, N.H.
The play revolves around three main characters, George Gibbs (played by Alexander Harrison) and Emily Webb (played by Zoe Grodsky), neighbors who grow up together in Grover’s Corners and eventually get married; and the Stage Manager (played by Asher Harris), who narrates the play within itself and gives backgrounds on each character from time to time.
The fall play will be performed in the WHS auditorium on Friday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 25, with both shows starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8, but only $7 for Watertown students and teachers, and will be available at the door.
