‘The Tempest’ to land in Watertown this weekend
Watertown Children’s Theatre puts musical twist on Shakespearean classic for four shows, Feb. 5-7
February 3, 2016
Walking by the Arsenal Center for the Arts the other day, I watched a child look up at a poster in the window and ask his mother, “Mom, what’s ‘The Tempest?’ ” and I heard the mother answer: “It’s a play so good that it was written 400 years ago and is still performed today.”
If you attend Watertown Children’s Theatre’s production of this famous Shakespearean play, that’s exactly what you’ll find: an incredible play, but now with a bit of a musical twist.
WCT’s rendition of the Tempest isn’t a musical, but it brings musical elements into the storytelling done by a great cast of students grades 6 through 10.
Performances will take place in the Mosesian Theater at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal St. in Watertown. Shows will be on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m., Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Feb. 7 at 1 p.m.
This is a show you won’t want to miss, so buy tickets now at Brown Paper Tickets by calling 800-838-3006 or going to the WCT’s page for “The Tempest”.
