WHS springs into action with combined charity drive

Donations of clothing, shoes, and summer essentials needed to help Rosie’s Place and Cradles To Crayons

“Everybody can be great … because anybody can serve … You only need a heart full of grace.  A soul generated by love.”

— Martin Luther King Jr.

This quote is being put to good practice at Watertown High School, where there is currently a clothing and shoe drive going on for both Rosie’s Place and Cradles To Crayons.

Rosie’s Place is a Boston shelter for women who are homeless or need help getting back on their feet after going through difficult times.

Cradles To Crayons is a Brighton organization that collects clothing, shoes, and toys for children in need. They help children all over Massachusetts.

The community service advisory group at WHS was planning on doing a collection drive for Rosie’s Place, while a freshman student was planning a drive for Cradles To Crayons as a part of her spring service for the Project 351 community service program.  They decided to merge their efforts and hold one drive for both organizations in order to maximize the impact on both places.

Any type of donation is much appreciated, and the most needed items are supplies for summer, such as, tank tops, flip flops, T-shirts, and shorts. Unopened toiletries such as lip balm and sunscreen are also needed.

This drive ends May 27 and collection bins are located at the main office as well as the guidance room.

For questions or more information, please contact guidance counselor Jaimie Leonard ([email protected]).

Please help Watertown High School make a difference for people in need. Help our community by bringing in donations for Rosie’s Place and Cradles To Crayons!
